Pearl District Celebrates Successful First Season of Summer Arts Series, Announces 2027 Return
Pearl District Fort Wayne wrapped up its inaugural Summer Arts Series on Friday, Sept. 11, with a performance by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, concluding a season of four successful concerts.
Presented by Whatzup, the free, all-ages series brought guests together for live music and local dining throughout the summer. The Summer Arts Series will return in 2027.
This year’s performers included The Sweetwater All Stars, Los Electro, Casual Friday and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic.
Jon Swerens, publisher at Whatzup, said he believes the Summer Arts Series fulfilled its purpose of showcasing the diversity of Fort Wayne’s music scene while giving guests new opportunities to gather and enjoy downtown Fort Wayne.
“We were thrilled to see Fort Wayne families engaged throughout the summer in the city’s vibrant local music scene,” he said. “This year’s performances were a resounding success, and we can’t wait to welcome next year’s lineup!”
The concert series also partnered with local restaurants, including Crescendo Coffee & Café, Ducky’s, and Amoré – Italian, Steak & Seafood, to provide fresh food and drinks for visitors.
Pearl District thanks presenting partner Whatzup and the sponsors and community partners supporting the district, including MidWest America Federal Credit Union, Visit Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Community Schools, Greater Fort Wayne Inc., The Pearl, Pearl Arts, Sweetwater, ObiCai, Downtown Fort Wayne, Ducky’s, YMCA and Kilwins. Organizers also thank the performers and attendees who helped make the first season a success.
