Pre-signup process begins for Lakeland Internet in underserved eastern and southern Allen County

Allen County residents and businesses can now pre-sign for Lakeland Internet’s Next Generation Fixed Wireless Access (NgFWA), which is scheduled to go live summer 2025.

By pre-signing, residents and businesses can help Lakeland, a trusted local provider, establish appropriate infrastructure and direct its resources to the areas of greatest need.

“Pre-signing puts customers on the priority list,” said Joshua Garman, Operations Manager for Lakeland Internet. “By confirming their intention to connect with Lakeland, these customers will be among the first in the region to gain access to lightning-fast internet speeds and unbeatable customer support.”

In February, Lakeland Internet, in partnership with the Allen County Board of Commissioners, announced its commitment to invest an estimated $8.5 million to install a new internet service system that will provide internet service to underserved areas in southern and eastern Allen County. The Allen County Board of Commissioners are contributing just over $1.2 million toward the project. Lakeland will cover the remaining cost of the project and will also cover the cost of home installations and equipment for households that enroll in its Premier and Ultimate service packages. It is anticipated that there will be a high demand for this service which is why the pre-sign process is being made available.

This project will implement Tarana NgFWA technology – a service comparable to the speed and reliability of fiber internet, but at a fraction of the cost and deployment time. Six towers, equipped with four Tarana access points, will all be operational by early summer 2025.

Residents and businesses can look forward to speeds of up to 500 Mbps; those located on the outer edges of the service boundaries can expect minimum speeds of up to 100 Mbps. These speeds allow for the simultaneous use of multiple devices, including online gaming, downloading movies and shows, scrolling social media, and reading email.
